Tinariwen is a group of Tuareg musicians from the Sahara Desert region of northern Mali. The Tinariwen sound is primarily guitar-driven in the style known as assouf among the Tuareg people.[52] The Tinariwen guitar style has its roots in West African music[53] and other traditional styles practiced by the Tuareg and Berber peoples,[54][55] and has often been categorized as “desert blues”.
